Sometimes, when I’m lying in bed and about to fall asleep, some kind of clarity suddenly enters my thoughts. That’s the moment when I get these really good ideas (if I say so myself ;)). This time, I got this ‘vision’ of a purplish dusty pink and camo green gradient.
The next day, when I got up, I thought about it some more and decided it was a good idea to combine this gradient with a ‘savanna sunset’ theme. I envisioned these dark grassy silhouettes against the background.
Also, this seemed like a good opportunity to make use of the Pantone colour of the year 2015: Marsala (see http://www.pantone.com/pages/index.aspx?pg=21163). I went through my collection and found I didn’t quite own a true marsala colour, but Essie – In Stitches came the closest.
I think the design turned out very nicely! I especially like the sunset, and the green-shimmered black on the silhouettes (thank you, Smoke and Ashes). As you can see, I used a shiny topcoat to finish the design at first. But later on, I realised that a matte topcoat would give the design a more realistic feeling, more like nail stickers. I like it a lot!!
